Equine Assisted Therapy enhances core muscle strength through exercises and horse movement, which also aids in improving posture
As the core strengthens, balance improves as the horse moves under the rider.
Steering their horse, playing games, throwing balls and other activities increase hand/eye coordination in our riders.
Riders increase communication skills through verbalization of commands to their horse, taking direction from and communicating with their leaders and instructors.
Arm strength is improved through grooming, holding reins, steering and games during equine assisted therapy.
Required for balance, communication to the horse, mounting and dismounting, riding actually moves the hips in the same motion as walking, improving muscle tone.
